Charly’s review of Discover ID Protection

My mother was with discover for almost 20 years and paid the extra $15 a month for identity protection. She is elderly and fell scammed to the discover gift card extortion online. Had all full documentation, and the scammers claim they were discovered so she gave them money towards gift cards totally thousands of dollars everything was fully documented through all companies and sent to discover they denied it because they said she was willing to give the person on the line that said that it was discovered all of her information that was requested. Dealing with discover for my mother I was appalled by the lack of customer service, and how unhelpful they were during a very trying time. I canceled my company discover card immediately after dealing with the claim and then denying it. If you have discover you should close it out and find a more reputable company. Because their idea of protection is a joke. And they have no loyalties to their customers.

It isn’t free. I’m getting charged $12.99/month for it. How do I cancel it?

This service is an absolute waste of space, time and money. Let me tell you why. I have been paying them loyally for over a year and had not had an incident. I have a large identity theft issue, where my checking account and several credit cards were hacked. I managed to pay all my accounts but somehow my recurring payment for my discover personal loan (Business Loan) was kicked back. The checking account had been frozen prior to the drafting of the payment. I remembered I had this protection and called to use it! Wait!!! I can’t… I didn’t pay that loan ONCE, due to fraud and did pay all the other Discover cards I had plus the 15 dollar a month “protection” fee but it is policy to not help a client that is in need and missed a payment on a discover product. No matter the reason. Like FRAUD. Great Scheme they have here. Collect the money until an incident happens, causing financial harm then step back and say we can’t help you here. PONZI SCHEME

Awful. I changed from LifeLock to Discover. The first month under Discover I had fraud charges and they did not believe me and are making me pay for them. Then I got 4 more fraud charges which they are investigating. Once this is cleared up, I am cancelling my account, my daughter’s and my son-in-law’s.I have changed back to LifeLock.

I have been on hold for 2 hours with was supposedly an easy fix. I have been told to hang up and call creditors myself even though I told the discover operator I don’t have anything in collections and haven’t for over 20 years. When you did deal with one issue it was half ass as the original problem that someone else is all over my Experian account . And here I sit. 10 years paying you $13 a month and I get put on hold for literally 2 hours and i’ll have to deal with all this myself. Thanks for taking my money and being a bigger pain than Experian themselves. Total disrespect to me as a customer. two hours to talk with someone from India
